Ya know I’ve been doing some thinking. There’s a lot that goes on in the artist community. I’ve seen both sides of it, being someone that commissions art, and works on it (well, sort of, if a colorist counts as an artist). There’s a lot of little things some folks do or don’t do that really affects reputation and business. It’s almost like some unspoken code of conduct among artists.
They aren’t exactly strict rules that must be followed, more like guidelines. But not going along them can really hurt an artist socially. I figured I would go through the kind of ‘guidelines’ I’ve noticed and kinda make the unspoken code…well, spoken :P
I made a little document containing these guidelines I came up with. Check it out, share it maybe with friends. I just had it burning in my mind and figured I get it out.
Immediately after I posted my trade piece with Ralek, Replica decided that I was untrustworthy, and blocked me on skype after a lenghty, condescending message. I got upset and told people on discord about the incident. After some hours, Rep contacted me via tumblr IM, seemingly compelled to do so because I had been angrily talking about it with people. After some back and forth of me wanting an apology, and he wanting me to admit that I was in the wrong for speaking to Ralek (I have literally done nothing else to aggravate him), he ended with saying that I should “piss off in silence, rat”.
Why am I bringing this to tumblr? Because I want people to know that if he starts talking shit about me, which I have all the reason to suspect he will, this is what happened. I didn’t want to judge Ralek’s entire person on Replica’s word, and as a result Replica completely turned his back on me.
I don’t want this to escalate further, or people to harass Replica, I just want this out there in case something starts cooking. Sorry for the drama shite, but I don’t want my person to be tarnished.
